The Cover Story
Barbara Ann “Barb” Kowalski, 70, grew up in a large, noisy Golden Acorn household and became the Gang Gang's unofficial organizer long before anyone agreed to give her the job. Barb does not attend events. Barb assumes operational control of them.
She stayed closer to Golden Acorn than most of the others, built a big family life of her own, and became the natural headquarters for birthdays, reunions, cookouts, holiday weekends, and gatherings that somehow require printed schedules.
A simple backyard dinner becomes three days of preparation, assigned seating, six side dishes, emergency folding tables, and an argument about who moved the serving spoon. Barb loves people aggressively. She feeds them, orders them around, sends leftovers home, and remains deeply suspicious of anyone else volunteering to host.
